Amelia Earhart: Tantalizing Clues

The Associated Press carried an article this week detailing the case for a possible explanation of what happened to Amelia Earhart and her co-pilot, Fred Noonan, when they disappeared over the Pacific Ocean in 1937. The evidence builds a strong case that the aviators crash-landed on tiny Gardner Island (now called Nikumaroro), and even survived for awhile, before succumbing to the elements. There is even reason to believe that partial remains of the flyer were found — then lost again — a few years after she disappeared.

For a good summary of this and various other theories about Earhart’s fate, and the evidence for each, read this.
